Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner and it’s easy to get off track of our healthy goals. Surgical Associates of Cleveland have done helpful tips to keep you on track during the holidays. Be sure to visit us on Facebook and let us know how you’re doing this holiday season!

  • After Thanksgiving, get back to healthy portions as soon as possible. Not sure what makes a health portion size? Check this out:

  • Divide your leftovers into single serving freezer containers to help you avoid eating everything to quickly.

  • Savor your foods and skip anything that tastes merely “okay.”

  • After the holiday, eat plenty of raw fruits, veggies, whole grains and beans.

  • If you drink alcohol on the holiday, be sure to replenish your folate for a few days afterward.

  • Get your metabolism moving all day long with cardio workouts and weight-bearing exercises. Learn how to sneak in a holiday workout here.

  • The holidays can be stressful–try to get a little extra sleep so you can function at your best.

  • When you travel, pack your own pillow since it can help you feel more comfortable.
Pack healthy snacks to help keep your appetite in check.

  • When it comes to your parties, socialize more and eat less. It helps to keep your focus on others rather than your appetite.

  • If you decide to eat a big meal, you can save calories by having a light salad for lunch.

  • Drink plenty of water! Aim to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. That means if you weigh 150 lbs., you need 75 ounces of water every day.
